Band's own Statement:"10 Years! When we started developing and recording the first new songs after our second Album 'Terror Divine', we never expected that nearly 10 years would pass before the next album release. And what a long ordeal it should become! We were forced to leave our old 'Boom Room' Recording Studio and had to change our rehearsal room several times over the next few years. It took a long time until our new headquarters at DRUMHARD proved sufficient for the continuation of our recording process, which had been interrupted for years. But it should get worse. Meanwhile the world had changed to the detriment of our kind of extreme and extremely complex Metal. Almost powerless we had to watch how the former fire and the enthusiasm of the die-hard underground scene, which already had begun to diminish towards the end of the past decade, now began to wane even more. And so we began to doubt increasingly whether it makes any sense to continue. But it should get worse. When guitarist / singer / songwriter Marek suffered a dangerous myocarditis just before the 15th anniversary of the band at the end of 2014, for a short time it looked like the final end. But Marek recovered. And fast. Only a few weeks later we rehearsed again and were back on stage quite quickly. At about the same time, jazz music legend Roger Cicero was not so lucky. Behind his mysterious and sudden death, a not cured myocarditis was suspected. Being confronted with one's own mortality in this way did not leave without a trace of frontman Marek. The song's lyrics of 'Of pain and wisdom' document his thoughts about his music, the band and their art and life at all at this time. It began a philosophical journey with the realization that the question of what we as Band had not yet ventured artistically was more important than the question of who was interested in our music and in our artistic direction at all. And so Marek did the unthinkable and transformed one of his numerous 7-string guitars into a fretless guitar. "The journey begins with curiosity and evolves into soul-felt questions" - never before had Chuck Schuldiner's words been so close and so true to him as at that time. What started out of pure curiosity turned out to be trailblazing for the search for paths that we had not taken yet. Marek's first song written in this way was the instrumental Song 'Journey into the unknown' and was immediately thought of as an ideal album intro. Soon, however, he came to the conclusion that he would use these sitar-like guitar melodies for more than just an instrumental intro song and enriched them with the elements of Trapjaw's proven brutality and complexity. The results are now the two songs Kufr Part 1 and 2: 'Journey into the unknown' and 'No farewell to arms'. 2 different Songs based on the same idea but developing towards totally different directions. Together with the new song 'Of pain and wisdom' they were almost completely recorded in the new Trapjaw Headquarter at DRUMHARD, except the drum tracks of 'No farewell to arms' and 'Of Pain and Wisdom', which were recorded in Hell's Kitchen Studio/Osnabrueck together with Producer Stefan Siekkoetter, who was also responsible of final mix and mastering of these 2 Songs. With increasing routine Marek dared more and more faster and more playful riffs with the fretless Guitars and the result became 'Rites of Phallocracy'. 3 brand new songs, supposed to be released on 'World of Jaws' - an album title that allows a bilateral interpretation: on the one hand it describes the state of the world as we have experienced it since the end of the last millennium, on the other hand, it can be understood as an alternative to a self-titled album. But of course with Trapjaw an album release does not happen without a high level of resistance and obstacles. Through our new guitarist Kain, who joined in 2017, we met east german Label Necro Genocide Records - a label which made the realistic impression of being able to support us competently. Kain also arranged our first performance at the well-known Open Air Festival Fest-Evil Manrode 2017. The plan was to release our third album with NGR and to present and celebrate our release at this mega event. But NGR didn't deliver, nor did they appear or communicate at all. For weeks! For the sake of courtesy we won't mention the former label-owner. Let's just say that we (and various other bands who were waiting for their releases) finally got a sign of life sometime, after weeks without any feedback. And it was full of unrealistic apologies and excuses. NGR got a second chance from us, but then made a mistake we could not accept. When the general interest of friends and fans of our music started to increase again and we did not know about the Album release status once again, we kindly asked them to contact NGR directly. Almost all requests from our Fans were ignored by NGR! This was unacceptable to us, unforgivable and eventually led to the final break with NGR from our side. Numerous friends welcomed our decision, emphasizing that we were too good for such an unprofessional and unreliable partner and recommended various other labels, but after this experience, we did not want to be dependent on anyone again for the release of the album. Maybe somewhen for future projects. Once again we arranged everything by ourselves and celebrated the release at successful Live-Concerts/Release Parties at DRUMHARD/Bielefeld on 24th Nov.2018 and Metal Inferno - Festival/Paderborn on 11th Jan.2019. ...after almost 10 years!"
